QRSD believes that students should learn historical content from multiple sources and perspectives in order to deepen their understanding of important events and ideas that have shaped the world that they live in. Allowing students to access this information in a variety of ways such as: readings, sources documents, videos, audio, reenactments and more enables students to make connections and apply their knowledge.

In our elementary schools, we implement teacher -created curriculum and materials from our HMH Into Reading curriculum which is aligned with the MA Frameworks. Another resource that many of our upper elementary teachers utilize is Newsela.

In grades 6-7, we utilize the Investigating History curriculum. This is an Open Source curriculum that elevates the curriculum by focusing on historical inquiry and investigation, historical empathy and human connections, and civic engagement. One of the goals of this curriculum is to teach students to be knowledgeable, curious, and engaged in civic life. Students at QRSD complete Civics projects in 8th grade and again in 10th grade.

Our high school courses are some of the most engaging and sought after courses in our catalog by students. We utilize International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement, and teacher created curriculums. Our offerings vary from US History to Global Politics.
