As required by the USDA, students must take at least 3 components as part of their lunch and one of those components must be a fruit or vegetable. Students are encouraged to take all 5 components.
(For breakfast, students must take 3 food items).

What Makes a Reimbursable Breakfast?

A reimbursable breakfast must have a minimum of 3 items and one item must be a 1/2 cup of fruit.
At least 4 food items are offered from 3 food components.

Required components include:

  1. Whole Grain
  2. Fruit
  3. Milk
What Makes a Reimbursable Lunch?

A reimbursable lunch must have 3 full components with one of those being
a 1/2 cup of fruit OR vegetable.

5 Food Components are offered:

  1. Meat/Meat alternative
  2. Whole Grain
  3. Vegetable (Red/Orange, Green Leafy, Starchy, Legumes and Other)
  4. Fruit
  5. Milk
