Located in Worcester County, the Quabbin Regional School District serves students, families and community members in five rural, central Massachusetts towns - Barre, Hardwick, Hubbardston, New Braintree and Oakham – while offering its academic opportunities to more than two hundred school choice students from more than twenty sending towns. The District is governed by one school committee with fifteen members from the five member towns. The superintendent serves as the parliamentarian.
Each of the member towns has its own elementary school. Ruggles Lane Elementary School is located at 105 Ruggles Lane in Barre. The School was built in 1953 and renovated in 1988. The property consists of 9.06 acres and has one main 72,740 sq ft building, and 92 parking spaces. Ruggles Lane Elementary School educates approximately 385 students each year.
