Throughout the Quabbin Regional School District, we have positions that support job embedded coaching for our educators. Our belief is that professional learning is most effective when it is personalized, driven by teachers and student data, and part of an ongoing process. We have several important positions that support our educators.

Technology Integration Specialists:

We have two technology integration specialists, one that supports elementary educators and one that supports secondary educators. The role of the technology integration specialist is to collaborate with instructional and technical staff to optimize the use of instructional software and applications as well as network resources to support quality teaching and learning. The technology integration specialists use the SAMR model to evaluate the effective application of the use of technology in our schools and classrooms. Coaching is provided to all educators regardless of their years of experience. Focus areas have included blended learning, increasing student independence and access, and differentiation.

Intervention Specialists:

Each of our elementary schools and our middle school have an intervention specialist. The role of the intervention specialist is to work with classroom educators, instructional tutors and paraprofessionals. The work of the intervention specialist is grounded in student data. Intervention specialists work collaboratively with educators to identify areas of growth and strength for students. Together they plan differentiated instruction including enrichment and intervention and identify how they will monitor student progress. Intervention specialists will model research based strategies with all educators.

Instructional Coaches:

We have several instructional coaches across the district that support our educators from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Our instructional coaches are focused on core academic areas such as: Humanities and STEM. We also have an inclusion coach who works most closely on strategies to support highly effective inclusive environments where all students can be successful. All of our instructional coaches implement coaching cycles ensuring that they are working collaboratively with our educators on an identified area of growth. Together they track progress and adjust plans accordingly. Instructional coaches can be found modeling lessons, gathering data, collaboratively planning, and developing further professional learning.
