Quabbin Regional School District believes that high quality curriculum paired with effective teaching and learning practices in partnership with families will allow our students to find success in our classrooms, on standardized assessments, and in a world beyond our school walls. Therefore, the best preparation for any of the standardized assessments such as MCAS is for students to have strong attendance and participation in their classes each and every day.

We do recognize that some students may benefit from some additional practice to prepare them to take these yearly assessments. Often, our educators in grades 3-10 will use sample questions that have been released from the MCAS assessments as a way to review both content and the platform that these assessments will be administered on. Educators are able to show the students how to use some of the technology based tools and what the assessment platform will look like. This can be very helpful to ease any students who may be feeling anxious or worried about not knowing how to navigate the assessment.

At the high school level, we offer “boot camp” style programs for students who may need some additional support to find success on these assessments. This offering varies from year to year depending upon student need.

We encourage all families and students to remember that MCAS is a snapshot of academic performance. It is only one measure and we encourage you to look at your student’s success in all academic areas.
